Another firefighting crew from New York state is heading to the West Coast to help battle the wildfires that have charred a large swath of northern California.

A 20-member crew of forest rangers, state Department of Environmental Conservation personnel and other trained woodland firefighting volunteers will depart New York today. DEC officials say the latest crew will help combat ongoing wildfires near Yosemite National Park.

State officials say the crew will likely be stationed in northern California for two weeks, with specific fire assignments to be determined when they arrive.

A 21-member DEC crew recently returned from a two-week stint battling wildfires in another section of California.
