— A Japanese crew is coming to film footage on the USS Slater for a movie about the final days of World War II, and producers are looking for some extras to play American sailors.

The movie "Orion in Midsummer" is being made by Tokyo-based production company Destiny Inc., said Sharon Wolin, a local director and producer who is helping with the casting. Other parts of the movie will be filmed in Japan and other locations, Wolin said.

The producers are looking for white men between ages 18 and 30 to serve as extras. They must have a 14- to 15 1/2-inch shirt size and a waist size between 32 and 34 inches. The maximum height is 6-feet-2 and their weight must be 145 to 190 pounds.

A casting call will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn Express, 300 Broadway.

Filming on the USS Slater will take place Aug. 17-29, when the ship will be closed to the public.
