Gloversville man gets 6-1/2 years for sexually abusing girl

— A Gloversville man who pleaded guilty last month to sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison.

George W. Danforth, 55, of 9 Lincoln St., will also be subject to 3 1/2 years of post-release supervision after he is released from prison, under terms of the sentence imposed by Judge Richard C. Giardino in Fulton County Court.

Giardino also imposed an order of protection barring Danforth from contact with the victim for the next 18 years.

According to court records, Danforth sexually abused the girl over a two-year period.
