— Schenectady police said a 30-year-old man was the victim of a fatal Sunday night shooting on Hattie Street.

Police said the Anthony Ruiz Sr. was shot once in the torso about 9:40 p.m. while visiting friends in an apartment at 527 Hattie St.

Police said they are continuing to investigate and no arrests have been made. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Police released few other details this morning, and the crime scene remained roped off, with tape stretching between neighboring homes on either side. The front door of the house remained open, and a police officer watched from a squad car parked out front.

A memorial had already sprung up this morning on the home’s front porch, with candles, flowers and an empty beer can.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Schenectady Police Department at 788-6566.
