— A Vermont trucker hauling drinking water to Saratoga County was hurt when his tractor-trailer overturned on Route 149 in Queensbury this morning.

Warren County Sheriff's deputies said Clifford Morin Jr., 37, of Hancock, Vt. was driving too fast as he headed west and failed to negotiate a sweeping left hand turn on the crest of a hill. The accident happened between Bay and Ridge Roads.

The tractor and trailer started to jackknife, going off of the north side of the highway. It struck a large tree, breaking it off and crossing both lanes of the road as the tractor overturned.

Deputies said the main portion of the cab broke from the frame and ejected the operator. The trailer then sheared off a power pole, which landed across the trailer with power lines on the side of the roadway.

Deputies said two other accidents occurred as a result of Morin's.

A car struck the tree that was across Route 149 and a second tractor trailer driver said his breaks failed as he stopped on a hill and his rig rolled backwards and into a guard rail.

Morin was taken to the Glens Falls Hospital with head and back injuries after the accident. His condition was not available.

Route 149 is shut down from the intersection of Bay Road to Ridge Road. It is expected to be re-opened by early afternoon.

Police said there is no indication that alcohol is involved in the crash. They said an inspection is being made of Morin's rig which is owned by Veilleux Trucking in Hancock Vermont.
