— George Leveille, board chairman for the Albany Convention Center Authority, has resigned.

It was announced at this morning's meeting of the authority board that Leveille on July 16 submitted a letter of resignation from the board that was effective immediately. Leveille was not a this morning's meeting, but cited in the letter personal reasons and time commitments as the reasons for his resignation.

Leveille had been appointed to the board by Mayor Jerry Jennings and had served as chairman since February 2006.

Gavin Donohue, the board's vice chairman under Leveille, will serve as acting chairman. Donohue was appointed to the board by former Gov. George Pataki.

The board gave no timetable for choosing a permanent chairman.
