Former Broadalbin-Perth Central School District teacher Elizabeth Munn admitted Wednesday in court to having sex with one of her former students.
A former Broadalbin-Perth Central School District teacher pleaded guilty this morning to a rape charge for having sex with a boy who previously was one of her students.
Elizabeth Munn, 33, admitted a single count of third-degree rape. She was immediately sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years’ post-release supervision, but she has already served two-thirds of the six-month sentence and is expected to be freed shortly with credit for good behavior. The married mother of two will be classified as a Level 1 sex offender, the least dangerous type.
Munn sought psychological counseling even before her arrest, prosecutors said, explaining why they agreed to a light sentence. Also, they said, her 15-year-old victim was no longer one of her students.
Munn has surrendered her teaching license and resigned from the school district.
