Schenectady drug kingpin gets added five years in prison

Schenectady drug ring leader Oscar Mora is led into Schenectady County Court Tuesday to be sentenced.
SCHENECTADY — The man who helped run a drug ring based in Schenectady will serve an additional five years in prison after admitting his role in the operation. Oscar Mora, 30, of Waterford, pleaded guilty in Schenectady County Court this afternoon to drug charges in two separate cases, a day after admitting to a federal gun charge and being sentenced to 15 years in prison. Mora was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the drug ring and eight years for charges arising from a 2007 arrest that also led to the gun charge. Since all the sentences will be served concurrently, however, Mora will serve a maximum total of 20 years. Mora was accused of running the drug operation - which brought heroin and cocaine to the area from Long Island - with co-defendant Kerry Kirkem. They, along with 22 others, were indicted last month on a variety of charges. Two of those indicted took plea deals last week. Charges remain pending against the others, including Lisa Kaczmarek, wife of former Schenectady police chief Greg Kaczmarek.

What is wrong with our judicial system today? I read everyday about things that go on in the world and it seems that the more severe crimes get tossed under the rug. I have two small children that go to school in Schenectady and I receive e-mails listing sex offenders in my area and I need to ask why are they on the street? Not that I think drug dealers should be running the streets but why does someone get 20 years in prison for "alleged" drug dealing when I have pedifiles living down the street? Oscar Mora is not some low life "career criminal" as most papers are calling him and I know for a fact that he would never harm a soul. It's outrageous to know that today while Oscar was being sentenced to 20 years in prison a repeated child molester was also in court facing the same "judge" after being arrested for trying to abduct a little girl right in front of her school and he is home tonight. Are you kidding me? The streets are much safer now that Oscar is in jail and this child molester is roaming the streets again thinking about the next child he will try to take. Did I mention that the child this man tried to take was a student at the same school my children attend? What does this judge think she is doing? I know that Oscar has been around my kids for the last 3 years and never once would I ever not trust him being in my home or being around my kids. It's sickening that I would need to be more worried about my children being watched over at their own school because these sex offenders are roaming free with curfews that will prevent them from getting into trouble (yeah, ok) but alleged drug dealers get sentenced to 20 years and have to listen to people tell them how horrible they are and treat them like scum. I guess I would have to wonder how much time Oscar would be facing if he had tried to aduct a child. "O" we all love you and know the real you...AND THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT REALLY HAPPEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant believe someone actually posted the above , i totally agree that sex offenders,murderers and people who abuse their own kids get off with less time!
I have known Oscar Mora for 4 years and he is not the person people are portraying him to be! He is nice ,caring person and took care of his family and "friends".Its a shame that someone that did SO MUCH for other people is taking the blame for all of this.He doesnt deserve to be punished this severely, FOR OTHER PEOPLES CRIMES!! Why was he asked to plead GUILTY for things other people were arrested for?? Its crazy and doesnt make sense.Those who know "O" know the REAL TRUTH, and Karma is right around the corner.
