— An election year is in full swing, and if you’re getting sick of it already, the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall might have just the ticket for you.

New York City improvisational comedy troupe Chicago City Limits will hit the hall’s stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, with its new show “One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State,” just in time for the big day in November.

“In the truly participatory nature of an election, this involves a lot of audience participation as well,” said Laura Pratt, executive director of the hall. “It will be fun, lively and a bit on the unpredictable side.”

This blend of political satire and songs is one of 10 shows announced this week for the Troy Music Hall’s 2008-’09 season.

The historic hall’s 28th season will feature a broad cross-section of music, from American roots and folk to modern classical. The shows announced this week are:

  • Friday, Oct. 24, 7 p.m. — Peter Yarrow, with Bethany & Rufus. $27, $24, children $10.
  • Saturday, Oct. 25, 8 p.m. — Chicago City Limits: “One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State.” $27, $24, students $15.
  • Saturday, Nov. 1, 8 p.m. — Taj Mahal and the Trio. $34, $29.
  • Sunday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. — Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart. $49.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 18, 8 p.m. — Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman. $60, $55.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 19, 8 p.m. — Arlo Guthrie, Abe Guthrie, The Burns Sisters. $35, $29, students $20.
  • Sunday, Dec. 14, 7 p.m. — “A Night Before Christmas” with Spyro Gyra. $32, $29, students $15.
  • Friday, Dec. 19, 8 p.m. — Sweet Honey in the Rock: “A Holiday Show.” $36, $33, students $20.
  • Saturday, Feb. 7, 8 p.m. — Les Violons du Roy, directed by Bernard Labadie. $30.
  • Saturday, April 18, 8 p.m. — Kathy Mattea: “Moving Mountains.” $30, $27.

However, the 10 announced shows will make up only about half of the hall’s coming season. The hall will continue to announce shows this month and throughout the summer, said Karen Good, community relations manager.

“We’re hoping to add quite a few more; we’re just finalizing some of the deals,” Good said.

Tickets for these events are currently on sale for members only, and go on sale to the public on Tuesday, July 15. Call 273-0038, or visit www.troymusichall.com for tickets or more information.
