YORKTOWN Nationally ranked Niskayuna suffered its first boys' lacrosse defeat of the season this afternoon, dropping a 9-6 decision to Yorktown in a regional game of the state tournament.
The Silver Warriors finished with a 21-1 record. They were ranked 18th on the STX/Inside Lacrosse poll.
Yorktown, which improved to 20-3, also eliminated Niskayuna from the tournament last year, 7-6. The Section I power has been a perennial stumbling block for Section II hopefuls, showing a 19-2 overall record in matches against schools from the Capital Region.
