When Aaron Lupo was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in December, he did not know if he’d be able to play his senior season of lacrosse at Schenectady High School.
“That was my first thought. My second thought was, ‘Will I be able to play in college?’ ” Lupo said. “I had no idea it would turn out like this.”
Lupo not only played this spring, he excelled, earning his second straight Big 10 Player of the Year award while landing a spot on the US Lacrosse men’s division high school All-America team. He is only the second Schenectady player to earn the honor, following Pat Meade in 2002.
