— A local man was injured after being assaulted by six men on Saturday night.

Police spokesman Officer Christopher Wrubel said 55-year-old Marc Mahoney of Schenectady Street was walking home sometime Saturday evening. He cut through the rear lot of the police Traffic Division office at 837 Albany St. and was accosted by six black men between the ages of 16 and 20.

“It appears that they beat him up pretty good. They didn’t take anything from him,” Wrubel said.

A passerby found Mahoney just after 1 p.m. Sunday. Mahoney remembers few details about the attack and was not able to provide further description of his attackers.

Mahoney suffered bruises and severe swelling on the left side of his face, according to police. He may have also had a fractured skull. He was transported to Albany Medical Center.

"837 Albany St." says all you need to know.

I would steer clear of this area and let these people rob, rape and steal from each other. I'll bet the parents of these kids are the ones complaining about how dangerous it is and wondering why the police dont do something about it.

Well doesnt matter what part of the city you live in. If it isnt the thugs in the street...It could be a COPS on the beat. They are criminals also. Let's not forget how passive this city is on CORRUPT OFFICIALS.

i understand that the police have been involved with some criminal beahvior... but it looks like they are attempting to weed that out. None of that distorts the facts when looking at Hamilton Hill. Its nothing more than blight.

Well I lived in the "Goose Hill" part of town for 3 years and saw more trouble and violence on that side of town than I ever saw living on Hamilton Hill. I also observed that the Mont Pleasent area is pretty bad these days. So the ? is why bash Hamilton Hill when the problems are CITY WIDE? And as far as the Police in Schenectady, lets not forget while we are bashing eachother the level of corruption that was revealed a few years back involving these "Brave men who risk thier lives everyday to protect me" Were they protecting me when they were supplying the crack houses with crack" (oh by the way that peticular crack house was on congress st in mont pleasant not hamilton hill) or were they protecting me when they were paying off prostitutes for sex? just a thought on that Have a blessed Day!

Schenectady used to be a prospering city. I remember as a kid when GE was in it's heyday. Lots of good jobs available to those that wanted to earn an honest respectable living. Now look at it.... nothing but service industry type jobs that have low pay. When you allow the "good" jobs to go away, this current edition of Schenectady is what you get.

I can remember as a kid riding my bike all over Mt Pleasant without fear. I can also remember not being too afraid to go pretty much anywhere. How different that is now.

Really a shame that Local and state leaders have allowed this to happen. Shame on you!

Maybe when law enforcement is allowed to go after these "bad guys" without fear of reprisal over some b.s. technicality, or better yet, being accused of being racist, perhaps some of the violence will subside. That and good paying jobs being made available!

nunyafknbiznas You are talking about 1 or two bad cops out of the 162 on the force, as with any Business, organization or family for that matter you are going to have a couple bad apples. By the way, thats a classy login name, it says alot.

wmarinic where do you live?? 1 or 2 bad cops??? OH MY! I've lived in schenectady for 14 years now and its been more then 1 or 2 bad cops. we've had police chiefs and more... Ive even had to call them before and they've done NOTHING! We have so many BAD cops here its crazy! Bannanas!! NUTS!!! They rarely are seen driving around to show some police presence. The only time they drive around is when there has been a few shootings in one week. They ALLOW all of this crap to happen in this run down city. Its not just the HILL, its the entire city. If we dont have good cops watching our backs then this city will never be safe. I mean look at this city... WE have nothing here to offer kids. Nothing to offer adults. We cant keep a club open. We have nothing for anyone to do. People get bored. They need attention. So crime and drugs happen. its sad. look how long it takes anything to get built here. No entertainment. Ive traveled to many other cities and they have things for you to DO! nothing here. But crime to do....sad but true!

Need JOBS! Decent paying jobs! The dumbass city and state leaders allowed the good jobs to slip away and do NOTHING to entice new jobs to come. I have not lived there for a long time but all my family is still there. I miss it so much but afraid to come back. TAX TAX TAX is all they know how to do!
