ALBANY Mark Arcobello and Matt Nelson scored 22 seconds apart late in the third period Friday, giving Yale a stunning 4-3 victory over St. Lawrence on Friday in the first ECAC Hockey tournament semifinal game at the Times Union Center.
The top-seeded Bulldogs will face either second-seeded Cornell or third-seeded Princeton in Saturday's title game at 7 p.m. The fourth-seeded Saints will be in the 4 p.m. consolation game.
Eight seconds after goalie Alec Richards was pulled for an extra attacker, Arcobello lifted a backhander from in front of the net that hit off of goalie Alex Petizian's glove and trickled into the net at 18:32.
Then, at 18:54, Brendan Mason started a two-on-one rush into the St. Lawrence zone. He slid a pass to Nelson on his left, and he tipped it past Petizian.
