The only ‘gaps’ in evolution theory are in critics’ minds We would like to respond to Stephen Esposito’s April 15 letter [“Fossil-record gap shows flaws in Darwin theory”] claiming that gaps in the fossil record challenge the Darwinian view of evolution. Mr. Esposito provides a valuable lesson to the research in the high school class that one of us mentors, and to the students who use the college biology textbooks that the other of us ...

As a Christian I believe that God and evolution play a part in our world. The best case against evolution is the lack of fossil evidence and the fact that apes STOPPED evolving. Where is our missing link?

Carl Drake,

Congress is doing what it can to stop a President that does not have a clue. A man that spent his formidible years being raised by muslims in another country that hate America. He spent 20 years listening to a pastor "Jeramiah Whight" who Obama said made him a Christian but then said he never heard Whright disparage America. He started his campaign in Bill Ayeres kitchen, Ayers says he wished more had died when he blew up the pentagon. Obama has promoted the most radical of radicals to major positions in his government who have to answer to nobody. Obama is a real threat to our way of life and God help us if he is re-elected.

You shouldn't start off your adulthood by hiding who you are. You are a democrat. If you are proud of that, you should announce it in your public statements such as this letter to the editor and not try to portray yourself as some middle of the roader.

If someone said to you, "Let's all go jump off a bridge", and you declined to go along, could we label you an obstructionist because of your refusal to cooperate?

Mr Drake,

In case you don't realize it, Obama had a Democrat majority in the house from 2008-2010, and has had a Democrat majority in the senate from 2008 until now.
How exactly is congress obstructing him? When George Bush overstepped his constitutional authority, did you give him a pass?
Just because you agree with Obama's politics, is not an excuse to justify his violating the constitution and acting as a dictator.

wmarincic, with due respect to your religious beliefs, one of the differences between religion and science is that science accepts not knowing all the answers while religion purports to have all the answers. The fact that there are gaps in the fossil record of evolution doesn't refute the theory, nor does the theory refute the existence of God. Your statement allows for both, which I think is reasonably open-minded.
