Plotterkill Preserve gets new trail head

Construction has been completed on a new trail head for the Plotterkill Preserve at Lower Gregg Road in Rotterdam. The half-mile trail will tie into the more than 6 miles of existing trails and will provide much-needed access for emergency personnel to enter the 645-acre preserve to aid lost or injured hikers. To me, one of the coolest features of the new trailhead is access for bikers. One could bike the 7 miles or so on Mohawk Hudson bike trail from Schenectady to Lower Gregg Road (with a short 1/10 mile stint needing to share the road with cars on 5S), chain the bikes up at the trailhead and go for a hike. No gas needed.
