Baseball: Mohr throws no-hitter as Patriots blank Griffins

Kyle Mohr tossed a no-hitter to lift Schenectady over Bishop Maginn, 3-0, in a Big 10 baseball game Monday afternoon.

The Patriots, who only had four hits themselves, pushed across one run in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh.

John Sica struck out 11 for the Golden Griffins.

In the Foothills Council, Johns­town played “small ball” to scratch out three runs in the bottom of the seventh and beat Scotia-Glenville, 6-5.

Vdoviak’s squeeze bunt brought in the first run. Joe Nellis squeezed in the second run, and Steven Brown hit a sacrifice fly for the game-winner.

Nellis also had a two-run single for the 6-3 Sir Bills. Chris Borden topped the Tartans with a single and a pair of doubles.

Broadalbin-Perth edged Gloversville, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

R.J. Pingatore contributed two hits and an RBI for the Patriots.

Nick McKinney belted three two-run homers and went 4-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored in Glens Falls’ 7-5 win over Queensbury.

Alex Wright tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, and James Rizzo added two hits for the 8-1, 11-2 Indians.

Pat Mulcahy drove in two runs with three singles, and Gavin Chapman contributed a double and a single in South Glens Falls’ 7-2

decision over Hudson Falls.

Jordan Williams doubled for the 1-8, 5-10 Tigers. The Bulldogs are 6-3 and 10-5.

Justin Brock’s four-hit shutout and Ted Smallwood’s five hits were the difference as Albany Academy blanked Ichabod Crane, 9-0, in the Colonial Council.

Thomas Cassidy added two hits for the 6-3, 7-3 Cadets.

Watervliet erupted for six runs in the eighth inning to clip Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 11-5.

Brandon Legault’s RBI triple in the seventh inning scored Jon Parker with the tying run. Tyler McLeod slammed a two-run homer, and Tom Szczepanski added a solo shot in the eighth for the Cannoneers (6-4, 7-6). Parker contributed two doubles.

Riley Laustrip drove in five runs with a two-run homer, double and single to propel Lansingburgh over Schalmont, 6-5.

Dan Bergami’s two-run triple and Jean Gomez’s two-run single led the 8-2, 10-4 Sabres. Lansingburgh is 7-2 and 10-3.

Mike Chiseri pounded a pair of doubles, driving in five, Kevin Connolly belted a double and a single for two RBI, and Nico Church slammed a three-run homer in the seventh as Voorheesville (8-2, 12-2) topped Cohoes, 15-9.

Cody Cade doubled and singled for 1-8, 5-9 Cohoes.

Tanner Parks went 4-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI to lead a 20-hit attack as Voorheesville blitzed Mechanicville, 17-3.

Chris Phelan (3-for-4, two RBI), Seth Billington (3-for-5, three RBI) and Billy Sawyer (3-for-5, two RBI) also had big days at the plate for the 3-6, 5-9 Bulldogs. James Corcoran drove in two runs with a double and a single, and Jordan Dickinson added two hits for the 2-8, 3-13 Red Raiders.

Jason Flynn scattered four hits and struck out 12, and Tony Giroux and Joe Estramonte were on base eight times combined to lift Greenwich over Schuylerville, 5-1, in the Wasaren League.

Schuylerville is 3-5 and 5-6, while Greenwich improves to 6-3 and 11-4.

J.T. Sawyer plated five runs with four singles, and Ron Morello added a double, two singles and two RBI in Hoosic Valley’s 13-9 nine-inning win over Granville.

The Indians struck for four runs in the top of the ninth to remain undefeated at 10-0 and 16-0.

Andrew Haneka belted a two-run homer in the second inning and added an RBI single to pace Saratoga Central Catholic over Duanesburg, 5-3, in the Western Athletic Conference.

Ryan Czarnecki added a double and two singles for the 7-1, 11-1 Saints.

Sean McGarry (triple, two singles, one RBI) and Cody Largeteau (RBI double) led the 2-6, 2-11 Eagles.

Chris Hanifan improved his personal pitching mark to 6-0, and Harold Detter put the game away with a three-run homer in the fourth inning to send Fort Plain over Galway, 12-1.

Marcus Failing (two singles, two RBI, three runs), Dakota Nemecek (single, double, two RBI) and Han­ifan (two singles, two RBI) paced a 15-hit attack for the 8-0, 12-1 Hilltoppers. Galway drops to 6-4 and 7-6.

Steve Brooks went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, and both Evan Ottman and Trevor Norman drove in a pair of runs in Schoharie’s 9-6 victory over Sharon Springs.

Norman had three hits for 8-3 Schoharie.

Ben Geist tripled and scored the game-winning run in the sixth inning to lift Berne-Knox-Westerlo over St. Johnsville, 3-2.

Ohieno Miller went 3-for-4 with three singles, and Tyler Guido added a double and a single in Mekeel Christian Academy’s 10-5 win over Canajoahrie.

Mekeel improves to 5-3 and 8-6. The Cougars (5-5, 5-8) were led by Ryan Hodge’s two singles.
