Dayton King is wrong about how vehicle sales tax purchases are distributed to localities. In New York State, the vehicle sales tax is determined by the address of the purchaser's location, not the address of the dealership. In other words, the City of Gloversville will collect the same amount of tax from a resident whether they bought the vehicle in Johnstown or in Albany.
