Stewarts is not a very good company period. They do everything they can to make themselves look good with their charity programs, however, they treat employees like dirt under their feet. They fired an 8 year employee in St. Johnsville over giving an employee discount to a handicapped regular customer who was a little short of money; 20 Cents. An employee in their Broadalbin store was accused of stealing money and fired. 2 weeks later, management discovered it was their mistake. They did offer the persons job back, but this person already had another job. Can you imagine the humilation to this person, knowing that they had not done anything wrong? I have a family member who was reduced to part time, lost benefits, because of circumstances beyond this persons control. Stewarts is too cheap to give this person a a lay-off, they just want to wear this person down. I will say however that they are no different than any other kind of chain store operation when it comes to treatment of their employees, but it does not make it right.
