Peers to help combat veterans battle stress

A new peer-based counseling program for military veterans who suffer from post-combat stress or need help readjusting will be ready to start this winter, Saratoga County officials said. Unfortunately, one of the greatest tendencies of a government is to try to do at its own level what another level of government is already doing. This joint effort of New York State, Rensselaer & Saratoga Counties as described is nearly an exact duplication of the VA's Vet Centers, of which one of the most successful in the nation is located in the Town of Colonie.
