Don’t be surprised if a Rotterdam police officer whizzes through your neighborhood on a bicycle this fall. Some patrolmen are parking their cruisers and taking to the streets aboard a mountain bike. The department recently received three heavy-duty bicycles that were donated by Union College last summer and reconditioned with donations from several area businesses. "Rotterdam cops get out of cruisers, onto bikes" ....
no, "onto BICYCLES"! Ask any motorcyclist what a "bike" is!

Hope I see RPD bicycle patrols obeying the rules of the road; something I often see SPD officers violating - especially driving their bicycles on sidewalks or the wrong way on one-way streets. They should be stellar examples for other cyclists.
