Trick or treat! Times are set for sweet eats
SCHENECTADY Trick-or-treating in Schenectady will run from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. this year, Mayor Gary McCarthy announced.
As in previous years, city officials want residents to turn off their porch lights at 8 p.m. and stop handing out candy.
All four fire department stations will also be handing out candy, activity books and fire safety information
Their locations are 360 Veeder Ave., 1515 State St., Third Avenue, and the corner of Avenue A and Nott Street.
City officials advised that children wear masks with eye holes large enough to see clearly, and that they carry flashlights or glow sticks.
Firefighters also warned that residents should use extreme caution if they put candles in carved pumpkins, particularly if the pumpkins are placed near walkways where children’s costumes might brush against them. They encouraged battery-operated lights instead.
