— A taxi driver was charged with driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning after passengers said he was driving erratically, the Ballston Spa Police Department said.

Larry Northrop, 61, of Saratoga, was arrested about 4:06 a.m. for DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding in a restricted zone, and other charges, police said.

Police said they were contacted about 4 a.m. about a cab from Saratoga coming into the village on Route 50. They said the two passengers contacted the taxi company about erratic driving, and the company dispatcher then called police. Police did not identify the cab company involved.

Police said they stopped the taxi, determined Northrop was intoxicated, and that his license was suspended.

Northrop was arraigned before Village Justice Thomas Schroeder, and released without bail.
