Amsterdam voters approve purchase of 2 school buses
AMSTERDAM Voters approved a proposition to purchase two new school buses for the Greater Amsterdam School District, according to unofficial results announced Tuesday night.
In a 220-115 vote, the district received approval to spend $207,246 to purchase the buses. Since it’s eligible for 90 percent of the cost to be reimbursed by state aid, the district’s net expense is only $22,000.
That money will be borrowed over a five-year period, with $4,400 repaid per year after the state aid reimbursement.
