— James Benjamin Rodgers will lead a cast of Mac-Haydn Theatre performers in a production of "Les Miserables" from July 25 to 28 and July 31 through Aug. 4, it was announced today.

Rodgers will be Jean Valjean, the paroled convict who creates a new, successful life in the popular musical. Rodgers is familiar to Mac-Haydn patrons, having performed the dual characters in "Jekyll & Hyde" in 2011, and as Tommy Albright in last year’s "Brigadoon."

An audition rendering of “Bring Him Home” by Rodgers secured him the role, according to a Mac-Haydn press release.

The show will also feature a cast of Mac-Haydn veterans Gabe Belyeu (Fagin in 2012’s "Oliver!"), Monica M. Wemitt (Paulette, "Legally Blonde," 2012), John Saunders (Abel Frake in "State Fair" last summer) and Laura Helm (Nancy, "Oliver!") in feature roles.

Tickets are available by calling 518-392-9292 or visiting for more information.

The Mac-Haydn Theatre is located in the town of Ghent, east of Coxsackie and just off the Taconic State Parkway.
