Public sector losses slow region's job growth

The Capital Region may have had the largest job gains last month compared to the rest of upstate New York, but its public sector losses continue to rein in its net job growth. The Albany-Schenectady-Troy metropolitan area gained 2,600 private-sector jobs in March, but when taking the public sector into account, its net gain fell to 1,900 jobs, according to preliminary state figures released today.
