High schools: Mohr pitches Patriots to 6-2 victory

Kyle Mohr threw a four-hitter, and his teammates backed him up in the fourth and fifth innings, as Schenectady beat LaSalle, 6-2, Wednesday in Big 10 baseball.

Mohr struck out five in becoming the first pitcher to beat the Cadets in a league game this season.

Nick Patierne had two hits and drove in a run for the 4-1, 5-1 Patriots. Seamus Kelley had two of LaSalle’s base hits.

CBA jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held on to beat Amsterdam, 8-6, in another Big 10 game.

Zach DeThomasis had a three-run double, and Alex Koshgarian hit a homer in the Brothers’ four-run first. Chase Crawford hit a two-run homer as CBA added another four-run inning in the second.

Andrew Rouse hit a two-run homer for the Rams, who left 10 runners on base.

Mike Mannix’s two-run single in the second stood up, as 6-2 Troy edged Catholic Central, 2-1. The Crusaders loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but failed to score.

Tommy Carrigan had three hits to lead Niskayuna’s 16-hit total, with Lucas Teti, Mike Landry and Zach Zebrowski all adding a pair of hits in an 18-11 win over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in the Suburban Council.

Dan Nuzzi and Ryan Gardy both homered for the Spartans.

Jimmy Hamilton came within an out of a no-hitter as Schalmont beat Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 11-0, in the Colonial Council.

Jacob Darlington broke it up with a two-strike infield single.

Hamilton struck out eight.

Joe Wignot doubled and knocked in two runs, Greg Musk tripled and drove in a run and Chris Amorosi hit two singles and knocked in a run for the 4-3 Sabres.

Zak Shaw’s 10-strikeout three-hitter carried Fonda-Fultonville past Ichabod Crane, 2-0. Shaw also singled in a run for the 4-1 Braves. Anthony Sinicropi drove in the other Fonda run.

Tyler McDonough hit a grand slam, and Craig Craven and Adam Burke added two-run homers, as Lansingburgh beat Voorheesville, 19-7.

Nico Church and Kristian Singh hit homers for the Blackbirds.

Ben Brown threw a five-hitter, and Kyle Lancto went 2-for-4, as Albany Academy beat Cohoes, 6-2.

Zack Parsons threw a two-hit shutout and went 4-for-4 as Queensbury beat Scotia-Glenville, 18-0, to take over sole possession of first place in the Foothills Council.

Charlie Peltz was 3-for-4, and Reed Farrier went 4-for-5 as 5-1 Queensbury rapped out 18 hits.

Joe Nellis struck out 15 and allowed only four hits as Johnstown downed Hudson Falls, 7-4, in the Foothills. Matt Szurek led the offense for the 4-2 Sir Bills, finishing with two hits and two RBI.

Winning pitcher Marcus Failing hit an RBI double, and Chris Hanifin and Trent Douglas had run-scoring singles as Fort Plain used a four-run sixth inning to put away St. Johnsville, 6-2, in the Western Athletic Conference,

Failing gave up just five hits and struck out 11.

Dylan Klock and John Vicciarelli both had two hits and an RBI for the Saints.

Joe Winsman’s three-hit, 10-strikeout, no-walk effort got Canajoharie past Mayfield, 3-1.

Zach Ruzkowski knocked in two runs for the 5-2 Cougars.

Cam Coons went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs, and Sean Hart had three hits and three runs batted in as Saratoga Central Catholic beat Galway, 15-1.

Kyle Gibbs had a three-hitter with eight strikeouts as Berne-Knox-Westerlo topped Middleburgh, 5-0. Macklin Nooray led the offense with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in.

John Wrigley had two of the Knights’ hits.

Hoosic Valley came up with four runs in the home sixth to beat Stillwater, 6-4, and go to 6-1 in the Wasaren League and 11-1 overall.

Mark Matson, Ryan Callister and Garrett Klahr combined on a two-hitter as Shaker topped Catskill, 10-2, in a non-league game.
