Donohue and John Engler's Aug. 11 op-ed column, "Tougher school standards benefit education, economy": The problem with common core lies not in the rationale behind it (i.e. to end "disparate state standards and uneven expectations"), but in its implementation. Throughout the nation, teachers agree that the first round of testing set unreasonably high standards, a fact reflected in the score distributions; perhaps, as ...

Don Steine, why beat around the bush, by reproductive health care you meant abortion. Why not just say it? I'm not against women's healthcare, far from it, my wife died from cancer, I know all about healthcare and good and bad doctors. What I have a problem with is infanticide, you liberals want to say it is because of religious beliefs to belittle it but for me it has less to do with religion and more to do with murdering babies. This cartoon I saw once reminds me of this issue, a woman whom died and went to Heaven and asks God why he has not cured cancer and allowed so many to suffer and God replied, I tried but the person that was to find a cure was aborted.

I can't believe with all the information out there, there are still people so willfully ignorant to confuse abortion with infanticide. Or to think that treatment of cancer is "women's healthcare" instead of "people's healthcare". It's really really basic biology that I guess small minds just can't comprehend. Or that people still believe in an invisible man in the sky, but that's a different topic. The most common cartoon about the cure for cancer has this for the caption- "What if the cure for cancer is trapped inside who can't afford an education?". Want to cure cancer? Make education less expensive and pay teachers better.
