Look at GOP’s voting record in Congress on women’s issues Re Timothy J. Gaffney Sr.’s Aug. 9 letter about the “war on women”: Is he kidding me? Mr. Gaffney chooses to blame the Democrats for the “war on women” by simply blaming the bad behavior of a few elected officials. And, yes, there are elected officials on both sides who have exhibited bad behavior and poor judgment when it comes to women. But their personal ...

Denise Turgeon - Thank you for your well researched and informative letter. Sadly, I am afraid that the people that really need this information will find some reason to disbelieve the facts and denigrate you point.

Yes janesjoys they're all facts, and absolute proof that the Republicans simply hate women. Denise throws a list out there and like a good puppy you go running after it. Her very first item attacks Health Insurance Companies for " gender discrimination" Lets take a look at that one. This is based solely on the Republican opposition to Buma care as far as I can ascertain. The ACA may or may not have wording preventing insurance companies from charging woman more. If you have auto insurance, then you know rates are based on rick factors. A 50 year old male pays less then a 19 year old kid. Its simple economics. If you're likely to cost more to cover then you need to pay more. Woman see doctors far more often then men, yet you think they should pay the same rate. You like most liberals simply can not comprehend what an insurance companies role is in society. Insurance is the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another in exchange for payment. You create the loss and then you want to decide the payment for the assumed risk. Do you lefties every think through anything?

Denise Turgeon Ok so I read that there were 70 total votes on 8 Bills by 435 members of Congress... So what you are saying is that 3 Republicans out of 233 in Congress voted for a Bill..... Wow that sure is proof that Republicans hate women. Liberals, making up facts since 1962.

Jane, come on. Three people voted on a bill and you consider that a majority of republicans?

OK sorry I misread that but for instance, the violence against women act was voted against by even Michelle Bachman who said the reason the Republicans voted against it was because it "did not do ENOUGH to protect women". Dennis Turgeonreally need's to stop the liberal lies.

Phils2008, it's insurance and the money's in a pool we all draw from. Everyone contributes and we all benefit and hopefully no one takes more than they need. Is that easier to understand?
.
And you know what? After seeing what my wife went through to bring our child into the world, and what all women go through to bring children into this world, I'll gladly pay to support their health.
.
That's one way I show respect for women.

ChuckD are you married to janesjoys? Economic rational is lost on you just as it is on janesjoy. If you'll gladly pay to support their health, then pay. You two are the ones whining about your insurance premiums. You two are the ones that think it should be free. You two think the Insurance Companies owe you something extra. You make my point for me and dont even understand that you did. Simply amazing!

You Phils2008 have a wonderfully vivid imagination. And what you state is just that, imaginary.
