Stewart's wins honors at World Dairy Expo

— Stewart’s Blueberry Patch frozen yogurt was named the world’s best at the World Dairy Expo last week.

Stewart’s ice cream also took home two awards: a second-place ribbon for Dark Chocolate and third place for Crumbs Along The Mohawk.

Stewart’s Dark Chocolate ice cream has been a regular winner at the Expo — in the last seven years, it has won six times in the dark chocolate category.

Crumbs Along The Mohawk, which won third place in the open category, has graham cracker pieces and caramel swirls.

Blueberry Patch is a new flavor this year at Stewart’s, mixing together blueberries, pomegranates and Greek frozen yogurt. It was selected as the best frozen yogurt in the world and will now be available year-round, Stewart’s officials said.

They said they originally introduced it as a seasonal flavor but kept it due to customer demand.

Stewart’s President Gary Dake said the company’s “talented ice cream makers” were note solely to credit for the awards.

“This is a win that we can also share with our local farmers, who produce the fresh milk our great-tasting ice cream is made with, right at our dairy in Greenfield Center,” he said in a news release.

The annual World Dairy Expo is held in Madison, Wis. Each entry is ranked on flavor, body, texture, melting quality, color, and appearance. This year, the contest received a record number of entries.
