Amsterdam drug raid results in 5 arrests
AMSTERDAM Five people were taken into custody on drug charges following early morning raids in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
Police executed arrest and search warrants at four separate locations and seized a half-pound of cocaine, more than 1.5 pounds of marijuana, $8,700 in cash and drug paraphernalia and guns, according to a release from the Amsterdam Police Department.
The arrests stem from a four-month investigation into cocaine and heroin sales. Five additional arrests are pending, according to the release.
Those charged Wednesday are as follows:
• Edwin Feliciano, 47, and Nereida Padilla, 52, both of 217 Brookside Ave. 1st floor, were charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
• Orestes Andino, 43, of 9 Bayard St., 2nd floor, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
• Jose Carrero, 24, of 100 Virgina Lane, Apt. E-5, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
• James Passaniti, 27, of 46 Storrie St., 1st Floor, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
Participating in the investigation and arrests were the State Police, Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and Amsterdam Police.
