— A Level 3 sex offender accused of subjecting a 91-year-old woman to sexual contact admitted to the crime Wednesday in exchange for four years in state prison, Albany County District Attorney’s officials said.

Richard Ragone, 64, of Colonie, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sexual abuse, a felony.

Ragone admitted that, while on duty as a maintenance worker at the Loudonville Home for Adults Nov. 30, he subjected the woman to sexual contact when she was physically helpless.

A co-worker observed Ragone fondle the woman’s breast while she was sleeping, officials said.

Ragone remains in custody and is to be sentenced in March to four years in state prison, with 10 years of post-release supervision. Ragone is already a Level 3 sex offender.

The sex offender status was based on a 1984 first-degree rape conviction where he was sentenced to 12 1/2 to 25 years in prison.

Days after Ragone’s January arrest, the home’s administrator, Melissa Brown, was fired, officials there confirmed. She was fired for “failing to exercise the appropriate judgement stemming from incidents involving the safety and welfare of residents,” an official said then. The official declined to comment further.
