— A Gloversville man is accused of hitting his girlfriend and then violating a stay away order of protection, police said.

Jamie L. Lucas, 26, of 86 Broad St., was arrested Friday after an alleged altercation with his girlfriend at the same address that resulted in an injury to her lip. Lucas was charged with attempted assault, a misdemeanor, and released with an appearance ticket so he could receive treatment for a possible overdose, police said.

He was later released from the hospital, and served with a stay away order. He returned to the residence of his girlfriend, however, on two occasions, police said. He was located and charged with two separate counts of criminal contempt, a felony. He was sent to Fulton County Jail.
