— A Gloversville woman faces charges relating to neglect of a dog, police said today.

On Feb. 8, police responded to a report of a loose dog which had been recovered. The dog's owner was unknown at the time.

The dog was found to be suffering from a skin condition causing the dog's hair to fall out over much of its body, two ear infections and an eye infection. The ear infections caused the dog to open large wounds to its ears from scratching.

Police identified the owner as Karen M. Brown, 45, of 89 Third St.

She was charged with overdriving/torturing/injuring an animal, failure to provide food and sustenance; having an unlicensed dog; and having an unvaccinated dog. She was processed and released and will reappear in City of Gloversville Court on Monday at 9 a.m.
