Police probe Clifton Park assault

— A 67-year-old Clifton Park resident was assaulted Sunday night after opening his door to a stranger, according to state police.

The man opened his door at approximately 5:50 p.m. to a man who allegedly asked him his name and then struck him on the head with a metal pipe.

The victim was treated for a head laceration at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy and has been released.

According to police, the suspect is a white male in his 30s, approximately 5-foot-10, weighing 165 pounds and wearing a gray knit hat and dark-colored winter jacket with a zipper. He was operating a white SUV, possibly a Nissan Pathfinder.

The suspect was reportedly last seen heading towards Clifton Park Center Road.
