Ex-Troy cop admits sending explicit images to officer posing as teen
NEW YORK A former Troy police officer has pleaded guilty to sending sexually explicit material over the Internet to an undercover New York City cop.
Queens County District Attorney Richard Brown says 53-year-old former Sgt. Patrick Rosney of Rensselaer pleaded guilty today to first-degree attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor.
Rosney retired after 26 years on the job following his arrest in June 2012 for sending images over the Internet to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl. He is expected to be sentenced on May 1 to five years’ probation and a $5,000 fine. He will also have to complete a sex offender program and register as a sex offender with the state.
A lawyer for Rosney did not immediately return a call for comment.
