Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre — This hugely imaginative local company makes its Proctors debut in Verdi’s “La Traviata.” It will be a big step for the company with the larger space, but the results should be rewarding. Feb. 7, 8, 10, 14, 15, 17.

• The string quartet world will be shaken up this year with the revered Tokyo String Quartet in its farewell tour on Feb. 17 at Friends of Chamber Music in Troy and the final local appearance of cellist David Finckel with the Emerson String Quartet on April 28 at Union College’s Memorial Chapel. Come say goodbye.

• No one will want to miss the return of the Irish Tenors, Ireland’s premier ambassadors of song, on March 15 at Proctors. It will be an entertaining evening to relish.

• Several great pianists will perform locally in the coming months, including Vladimir Feltsman (Feb. 8, Union College), Yefim Bronfman (Feb. 9, Albany Symphony Orchestra), Gabriela Montero, (March 21, Zankel Music Center) and Emmanuel Ax (June 1, Albany Symphony Orchestra). But Kirill Gerstein, who made his Philadelphia Orchestra debut at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center a few seasons ago, is the man to hear. March 27, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

• The Octavo Singers will present a local rarity: Handel’s “Judas Maccabeus.” The performance is sure to thrill. May 5 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Schenectady.
