— A man who robbed the Adirondack Trust Co. bank in Ballston, fled in a car and crashed with police on his tail was sentenced this morning in Saratoga County Court to 10 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

Nigel Guy, 32, of Ballston Spa on May 23 robbed the bank branch on Church Avenue just south of the village of Ballston Spa while displaying what appeared to be a pistol, Saratoga County sheriff deputies said at the time. He pleaded guilty to felony second-degree robbery in November, admitting to stealing cash.

Deputies identified the car Guy was driving and chased him to Milton, where he crashed into a vehicle near Galway and Middle Line roads.

All the cash was recovered at the crash scene, authorities said.

The Ballston Spa Central School District locked down its buildings after the robbery until Guy was caught; the bank is across the street from the district's campus on Ballston Avenue.
