Area college basketball: Balanced Royals down ACC for sixth straight win

— Tevon Erwin led five double-digit scorers with 16 points and 12 rebounds as Schen­ectady County Community College won its sixth straight game, 78-62, over Adirondack Community College Wednesday night.

Terrance Blanchard (13 points, eight steals), Jeremy Gregg (13 points), Jerell Swann (13 points) and Schenectady product Reece Jackson (12 points) also reached twin figures for the 12-6 Royals.

ACC (1-12) was paced by Brett Smith with 18 and Josh Horton with 13.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — The Penman outscored the Golden Knights, 15-4, from the foul line en route to a Northeast-10 Conference win at SNHU Field House.

Junior guard Mike Stys knocked down five three-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points for the 6-4, 10-4 Penman. Junior center Dominykas Milka finished with 17 points, and junior guard Dan Mundweiler added 11 for the 4-6, 7-7 Golden Knights.

ALBANY — Junior guard Joe Stabach tossed in 20 of his 23 points in the first half, and Joe Henain added 20 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Knights over the Gators in a Skyline Conference game at Kahl Gym.

The Knights improved to 5-3 in the league and 8-6 overall. Junior Mason Horne (LaSalle) had 18 points for the 3-5, 7-7 Gators.

SARANAC LAKE — Shenendehowa High School graduate Jose Reyes posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists to lift the Vikings over North Country CC.

Nate Krimsky (Berne-Knox-Westerlo) and Giacomo Giglio (Catholic Central) contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively, for 12-7 HVCC. North Country CC dropped to 13-5.

COBLESKILL — Junior forward Kucjok Ater scored 16 points, and junior forwards Rhamel Williams and Mickey Davis contributed 13 points each as the defending NEAC champion Mustangs topped the Fighting Tigers at Iorio Gym.

Morrisville State improved to 4-1 and 9-4. Tyrone Mitchell poured in 24 points for 1-4, 3-11 SUNY-Cobleskill.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Lorreta Rocha and Deb Lavalley combined for 24 points to carry Southern New Hampshire over the Golden Knights in a Northeast-10 Conference game at SNHU Field House.

SNH evened its overall record at 7-7 and is 4-6 in conference play. Desiree Simmons scored 10 points for 2-8, 5-9 Saint Rose.

COBLESKILL — Senior point guard Alexis Hauser (Albany High) posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Heidi Anderson (Canajoharie) added 15 points and eight rebounds to carry the Fighting Tigers over the Mustangs in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game at Iorio Gym.

The Fighting Tigers (3-4, 4-9) also got 13 rebounds from soph­omore forward Tracee Schiebel. The 1-6, 1-13 Mustangs were paced by Jennel Paul with 15 points.

MORRISVILLE STATE

NORTH COUNTRY CC 65, HVCC 56

SARANAC LAKE — North Country CC (6-11) pulled away in the second half to beat the 6-9 Vikings.

Angelica Smith (Shaker) led the Vikings with 16 points, while Schenectady High School product Raeshelle Frasier recorded a double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds.

Ashley Creighton (Catholic Central) also had a double-double for the Royals with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
