Sharon Springs robber's description released
SHARON SPRINGS Police released a description of the suspect in Thursday's heist at the NBT Bank in the village.
The robbery took place just after noon when a white male about 5 feet 8 inches tall handed a teller with a note demanding cash, according to a release from state police.
The suspect, who wore a yellow hard hat, a reflective work vest, jeans, gloves and a hooded sweatshirt, left the bank with an unknown amount of cash and left on foot headed north behind the bank.
Police believe the man left the area in an older-model, black Jeep with a hard top and yellow-colored emergency light on the roof. The vehicle had white rims and an old-style, white New York State license plate, according to the release.
The robbery forced officials to lock down the Sharon Springs Central School buildings throughout the afternoon Wednesday; evening events were also cancelled, according to an announcement from the district.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Princetown barracks at 630-1700.
