School hockey: Surging Shen prevails

Kevin Miles scored two first-period goals to spark Shenendehowa to a 5-0 Capital District High School Hockey League shutout of Queensbury Friday night at Clifton Park Arena.

Riley Irving and Kyle Marr also scored for the 8-1-1, 10-5-1 Plainsmen, who are 8-0-1 in their last nine games, while Brian Walter and Ben Farstad combined for 16 saves.

Teddy Nolan and Joe Lovering combined to make 33 saves for the Spartans (3-3-2, 7-6-3).

Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa blanked South Glens Falls, 3-0, at the Schen­ectady County Recreational Facility.

Nick Van Liew scored twice, and Ian Speck added a third-period goal for Burnt Hills (8-5, 9-8-1). Austin Clark made 15 saves.

For SGF (2-8-1, 4-10-2), Noah Price stopped 30 shots.

Christian Brothers Academy pounded Guilderland/Mohonasen, 5-1, at the Albany County Hockey Facility.

Mike Betts connected twice for the Brothers, who also got goals from Nick Makarowsky, John Bassett and Chris O’Keefe.

Connor Phillips scored the lone goal for Guilderland/Mohonasen.

In a non-league game at Weibel Avenue Rink, Nick Jaeger scored twice, and Robert Clark tacked on another goal to pace Suffern over Saratoga Springs, 3-1.

Nick Winters scored for the 13-2-1 Blue Streaks, and Dakota Smith made 10 saves. Nick Modica had 31 saves for 12-2 Suffern.
