Cleaning woman accused of stealing mail from Cobleskill post office
COBLESKILL A Schoharie County woman has been charged with stealing mail from the post office in Cobleskill.
Kelly A. Christman, 46, of Carlisle, was arrested Wednesday morning following an investigation that began with a Jan. 14 complaint of mail being stolen, according to the Cobleskill Police Department.
Police allege Christman, who had a contract for cleaning services at the building, was caught stealing mail items Wednesday and then placed under arrest. Officers said Christman was in possession of medications not prescribed for her and a small amount of marijuana at the time.
Officers from the Postal Service’s Office of the Inspector General and Cobleskill police say they found previously stolen mail items when they searched Christman’s residence.
She was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony; petty larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Christman was issued appearance tickets returnable to Cobleskill Town Court on Feb. 9.
