— The Schenectady County Business Center is nearly at full occupancy now that a local graphics business has expanded to lease more space.

SilverGraphics Studios Inc., a female-owned firm that transfers student artwork onto keepsakes, will occupy 4,000 square feet inside the business center at 920 Albany St. It also plans to add four or five employees to its current roster of 15 over the next three years.

The company was founded in 1995 by Betty Ireland Dufresne, who was joined nine years later by Gretchen Wagner Feero. The two are now co-owners of the business, which imprints artwork on anything from mugs and magnets to phone covers. Businesses also rely on the company for capital fundraising campaigns, and donors have sponsored tiles to build artistic walls in school hallways.

“We are continually amazed by the artwork we receive from schools across the country,” Dufresne said in a news release Friday. “Expanding our space in the Schenectady County Business Center will allow us to work with many more schools to create keepsakes for parents and profits for art programs and more. We also hope to work with more businesses and nonprofits to create stunning tile walls and successful capital campaigns. We have enjoyed expanding our business in downtown Schenectady and look forward to many more years here in the Business Center.”

The county-run business center is home to eight companies. About 95 percent of the building is leased, and county officials expect it will reach full occupancy after it wraps up a current negotiation for a small office lease.
