Hill & Markes names Borst as new CFO
AMSTERDAM — Ray Borst has been hired as the chief financial officer at Hill & Markes on state Highway 5S. During the past 20 years, Borst, a CPA, has held various financial positions, most recently as CFO of Fillpoint LLC, a distributor of video game consoles. He has a BS in accounting from SUNY Brockport and an MBA from the University at Albany, where he graduated cum laude.
Borst and his family reside in East Greenbush, where he is active with his children in baseball and soccer.
Conley joins First Columbia
LATHAM — First Columbia, a Latham-based real estate and investment firm, has hired Zachary Conley, 30, to handle the organization’s property services for the real estate needs of a rapidly changing health care sector.
Conley’s goal at First Columbia is to work with property owners, companies and health care providers to determine the smartest ways to meet their long-term real estate objectives.
A native of Bethlehem, Conley has brokered more than $30 million in medical office leases and sales.
Conley is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) since 2007 and holds a bachelor of science in business economics from SUNY Plattsburgh. He currently serves as treasurer of the Greater Capital NYS Association of Realtors’ Board and secretary of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Upstate NY/VT Chapter’s Board.
Two tapped for Red Cross board
ALBANY — The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York has elected two new members to its board of directors.
Christopher Bonitatibus and Mary Beth Sonne were elected to three-year terms, joining a group of 22 members who provide oversight and guidance to the chapter’s activities.
Sonne’s professional experience includes 25 years as a certified neurosurgical and critical care nurse and health care provider in hospitals, medical centers and physicians’ offices. She has served on a variety of local, regional and national boards, including the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, Teresian House and the Colonie Youth Center.
In addition, she has been part of the Cornell Parent Fundraising Committee and the Phillips Academy Andover Parent Network. Sonne is a longtime Red Cross volunteer, working as a disaster nurse and CPR instructor.
She lives in Loudonville with her husband, Leonard. They have two adult sons.
Bonitatibus is financial representative/field director at Northwestern Mutual, a position he has held since 2009.
Prior to joining Northwestern, he was vice president at FNB Financial Services, a subsidiary of 1st National Bank of Scotia. He had been branch operations officer with the bank before that. Bonitatibus is a 2001 graduate of Siena College and is currently enrolled in the Certified Financial Planners program at The American College.
He served on the United Way of Schenectady County board for four years and founded the United Way Young Leaders Group, designed to inspire and motivate young professionals under 40.
He lives in North Greenbush with his wife, Alyssa, and their two children.
AMRI promotes Susan Collins
ALBANY — Albany Molecular Research Inc. has announced that Susan Collins has been promoted to director of business development for North American Discovery Services. She will manage AMRI’s North American discovery business development activities and professionals and spearhead AMRI’s efforts to expand business within the sector.
Before joining AMRI’s discovery team in 2012, Collins held sales and leadership positions at Organon BioSciences. Directing teams of up to 125 employees, Collins was responsible for generating sales of more than $174 million with a $7.8 million operating budget.
Insurance agency now in ‘Circle’
SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Sutton & Tarantino Insurance Agency Inc. has been named to Kemper Preferred’s Inner Circle of Independent Agents.
The Inner Circle is an exclusive group of 262 independent insurance agencies nationwide that represent Kemper Preferred.
Kemper Preferred sells home, auto and other policies through a network of independent agents. Inner Circle membership is awarded to approximately 7 percent of all independent agents that represent Kemper in 38 states and the District of Columbia, and is based on the amount of business written as well as the quality of the business.
