A review of "The Place Beyond the Pines" in today's Daily Record and Sunday Mail, one of Scotland's largest news organizations, singles out actor Bradley Cooper for his performance as Schenectady cop Avery Cross.

"Of the lead cast, it's Cooper who is the revelation," writes critic Gary McConnachie. "Here, he kicks it up a gear. His performance is one full of confidence, vulnerability and power."

"The one other standout is up-and-comer Dane DeHaan. He more than holds his own on screen with seasoned pros and, at times, is a real tour-de-force."

Adds McConnachie: " 'The Place Beyond the Pines' is electrifying at times, emotional at other points and cements [Derek] Cianfrance as a top director. Quite simply, this is must-see cinema."

The film aired last week at the Glasgow Film Festival.
