NY SAFE Act: More informational meetings will be held

Recently, I held an information program on the NY SAFE ACT at the Pine Tree Rifle Club. Along with Tom King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, members of the Albany Assembly staff, and Fulton County Sheriff Tom Lorey, we answered many questions of this difficult-to-understand and recently passed legislation.

The turnout for this informational meeting was much larger than we had anticipated. The members of the Pine Tree Rifle Club were diligent in their efforts to make space in their two-floor facility so that as many people as possible were able to attend. Over 200 people attended the program; at least that many were unable to come into the building.

The fact that we had to turn people away that had made the effort to come out on a cold wintery night was unfortunate. Please allow me to offer my sincere apology to everyone that was not able to attend.

We are at this time making plans for a follow-up meeting. The time and venue will be announced through the media very soon. Please watch for information regarding the new program, and know that I will continue to make available all information on the NY SAFE ACT as it unfolds.

Young Musicians Forum well worth the trip

I would like to add my voice to the Feb. 22 letter submitted by Ms. Helen Steiner endorsing the marvelous first-rate Young Musicians Forum concerts at the Niskayuna Library.

The community room is always packed in support of the artists, and in gratitude to [series founder] Charlotte deBlois, for her dedication in arranging these classical music offerings for our enjoyment.

I live in Gloversville, and traveling to these concerts is well worth the journey.
