— A 26-year-old Saratoga Springs man, already in custody for allegedly robbing banks in Schenectady and Rotterdam, was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery for allegedly robbing the Trustco Bank in the Congress Street Plaza in Saratoga Springs on Jan. 28.

Jahmar R. Daniels of Regent Street was identified some time ago as a person of interest in the Trustco Bank robbery by Saratoga Springs police investigators. He was already on parole for bank robbery and was known to frequent the businesses in the plaza where the Trustco is located, city police said in a statement. Saratoga Springs police started working closely with the FBI and Rotterdam Police Department, who were investigating their own bank robberies with a similar suspect description.

Daniels was apprehended by Rotterdam police on Monday just a short time after he had allegedly robbed a Trustco Bank in Schenectady.

Since that time, Daniels has been charged with two bank robberies in Rotterdam and Monday's bank robbery in Schenectady. Search warrants were obtained for locations in Rotterdam and Saratoga Springs where Daniels was known to stay, and evidence was obtained relevant to the bank robberies, police said.

On Wednesday, Saratoga Springs police investigators secured an arrest warrant for Daniels for the Jan. 28 bank robbery. Daniels is being charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree grand larceny. Daniels is currently being held in the Schenectady County Jail but will be brought to Saratoga Springs in the near future and formally charged and arraigned in City Court, police said.
