Troy police say two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle today at Hoosick and 10th streets.

Police say a mother and her child were struck while crossing the street near the Stewart's store at 7:40 a.m. The driver has remained at the scene and is cooperating, according to police.

Sarah Bingham, 19, of 8th Street in Troy, and her daughter, Amy Van Wert, 4, were transported to Albany Medical Center by Troy Fire Department officials. Bingham is in stable condition and is undergoing further treatment. Van Wert was resuscitated enroute to Albany Med and was believed to be in critical condition, but AMC officials say her potential for survival is positive.

State police accident investigators are handling the investigation.

The eastbound lanes of Hoosick Street from 8th Street to 15th Street are closed until further notice. Local businesses on the highway can easily be accessed from points east (above) the accident scene.
