A demolition crew is planning to make yet another attempt to tear down the bell tower of a Watervliet church.

Attempts on Thursday and Friday to pull down the 137-foot-tall bell tower of St. Patrick’s Church were stymied when the cables attached to the structure snapped. The crew is expected try again today.

The nearly 125-year-old Catholic church in Watervliet is being demolished to make way for a supermarket. The church closed in 2011. ...
