Schenectady should get landlords to get tenants to recycle Re Oct. 2 article, “Proposed Schenectady city budget has small tax hike”: Great news. Anytime we do not have to borrow money is a winner day. I see that, as usual, the people who obey the laws and rules are going to get an increase in “fees.” I, as well as many of my neighbors, obey the recycling rule. I am sure that most people who ...

Hey Terry Amrhein, Have you actually looked at the law of the affordable care act (Neither did the democrats). It will not deliver anything it promised. So far it has cost thousands of jobs, Full time employment cuts, loss of coverage, and sky rocketing premiums and deductibles. It relies completely on 95 percent of the people who did not buy insurance (by choice) because they felt it was not affordable, to buy it now. They will not see plans that are doubled or even tripled as affordable. The only way to get any subsidies to make it affordable will be to pay outrageous premiums to insurance companies or major taxes to big brother. When you have nothing left, then you will get some crumbs. In the end you will know who fought for you, and who did not.

uh Terry there's a reason we were the greatest country in the world, it's because we didn't do what other countries did. Now that you have us doing what they do, we will become the third world country liberals seem to love.

roberttodt: I am not a Democrat. I did read the Affordable Care Act. Maybe it's not delivering everything as promised. However here in New York, my only point of reference, is the NewYorkStateofHealth.gov health care exchange.

My wife and I purchase individual health plan coverage. Via the NY Exchange, our monthly premium cost beginning January 1st for a gold plan with CDPHP will be $710.37 per month less than what we currently pay CDPHP for a health plan that provides less coverage, with higher copays, a higher deductible, and a smaller network of doctors and labs, than the gold plan from CDPHP via the New York exchange.

We are not eligible for any government subsidies due to our income level, so we will be paying the total cost.

Not sure where you have obtained the information that you state, but you might want to check out what people are truly experiencing as a result of the Affordable Care Act.
If you actually do that, you might discover that some of your statements might need to be investigated further.

Rondo, if the situation works for you, then you are the first I have heard of. Glad that somebody will benefit. My insurance provided by my employer has almost tripled, boss says he can not afford any more. Many people I have talked to have seen major increases. But the main problem is the youth, they will not participate in the levels needed.

I truly hope that the majority of people do as Ronzo did and get the REAL facts. No one can say they honestly know how many "youth" will participate or for that matter what the overall effect will be. It is hard to determine whether these nay sayers have really researched the effects of the ACA, which incidently has not even been fully enacted, or whether they are Cruzites who are afraid that Americans, desparate for healthcare, will become addicted to the "sugar".

It really is amazing how the janesjoys of the world latch onto the Ronzos who claim a benefit and then belittle the stories of those that dont. Maybe this is better for Ronzo. We dont know that his care is better now do we? Did he care who his doctor was? Ronzo is simply happy that now somebody else is paying that $710 he says he saves. Yippi. Somebody else's health care plan has been ruined so Ronzos could save money. In jansejoys world this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the aca is good for America and we all just need to get the "FACTS".

roberttodt: Your key statement is: "my insurance provided by my employer". Lucky you to have health insurance provided to you by someone else who is paying for some or all of it. The ACA is designed to help people who do not have your priviledge or luck.
Phils2008: As I stated, the new health plan will provide a larger network of providers (including our current providers) that we care very much about retaining. And who exactly is paying the difference in cost for my next year plan? Who pays for your health plan? I'm sorry that our new one will ruin yours. Over the years, those who have health care handed to them by large and small employers "ruined" my ability to get the same as what you get for what you pay. If you don't like what you have, like us, you might want to buy a new one at the New York Exchange that's designed to help people like you and me.

In order for Obamacare to work would mean that millions of healthy young people have to buy in and watch their rates triple or more. It wont happen, the fine is less. The only thing we needed in this country was to open across state lines purchasing of insurance. Obamacare is a cluster***k. Why are their vouchers for Congress and Obama's friends, why are the unions now against it? Finally where is the outrage that the U.S. kidnapped a terrorist on Obama orders and will ber torturing him outside the country. Bush was a warmonger but Obama gets a pass. I really don't like liberals, they are phony dishonest babies.

ronzo, who pays for my plan? Me and my employer, not you. I will now pay for mine and yours. Privilege or Luck!. That's what you think about anybody that may be a little better off then you. No they didn't work for it did they? They are simply Privileged or lucky. Some of us have worked our asses off and made decisions and sacrificed things we wanted to ensure priority items were taken care of. I didn't spend money on cigarettes, drink excessively and engage in unhealthy things because I felt like it. That's the liberal lifestyle. Then when the roosters come home you people expect others to handle the tab. If you smoke for 40 years and get lung cancer then go get insurance, that's a pre-existing condition. Well toooo bad Insurance company you have to pay for my treatment. That gets passed to the rest of us. Liberals care about themselves under the guise of concern for others. If you make the argument you only want to ensure those with nothing then you get something free for yourself. This plan will make this a third world country. I can only assume you're simply too sick to see it.
