The ancient painting technique of Buon fresco can be found all over Italy, most famously on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The ground-pigment-on-wet-plaster technique experienced its heyday during the Renaissance but has since been mostly lost to time, practiced today by only a handful of master artists. Buon fresco may soon be revived in a most unexpected place: Schenectady. A Troy artist and entrepreneur who brought her fresco revival to a historic Cohoes church ...

60,000 dollars?????????? The stained glass in that building has to be worth double that alone!

The old church buildings are magnificent ! Construction today does not meet those standards. I am thankful that someone has bought it with a genuine purpose in mind. I hope it works out for the best........those stained glass windows are no doubt irreplaceable along with many other things in the church. You cannot put a price on beauty :)

Congratulations Sandra!!! I am so thankful that you have the interest and foresight to put this absolutely magnificent church to good use. I'm thankful that it is not being torn down. It was too heart wrenching to see my church close. The diocese ripped the rug out from under us. They did not think or care about how our culture is part of our religion. I am very thankful that you are going to turn the light on in the steeple.

The most beautiful church in Schenectady that was built by old world stone mansions. Congrats to Sandy and hopefully this can become a bright spot for a neighborhood that is racing downhill. No church, no Cooper Keg, no Ras Furniture, no jobs. Metroplex funds must be given to Sandra instead of the usual tax exempt cronies.

I too was baptized, educated, an altar boy and SMS graduate of 1968. My father was also raised in the parish. Now there is talk of demolishing the school building. Really pulls at the old heartstrings.
